Annual Report 2002-2003 Committee on Minority Affairs

Recommendations from previous year and/or current charges:

Recruit and retain minority students
Recruit and retain minority faculty

Accomplishments:

Held 8th Annual William Stokes Lecture in April. This was a joint program, in conjunction with the Faculty Development Committee.

Met with Dr. Alan Scarboro to discuss the M.O.S. T. program.

Recommendations for 2003-2004:

Work with Office of Minority Affairs in developing strategies to recruit and retain minority students

Work in conjunction with the Faculty Development Committee to sponsor diversity workshops for faculty.

Further facilitate diversity training by sponsoring workshops using the Mandala trained persons on the campus.

Work with the Vice President/Dean of Faculty in developing strategies to recruit and retain minority faculty

Provide assistance to the Vice President/Dean of Faculty in implementing M.O.S. T. on the Armstrong campus.

The current committee be kept intact for continuity of programming.
